31.01.11 - My works are based on reusing materials I found surfing over the internet, TV and written media. simply everything that comes to each and every one of us on a daily bases, that is part of our average, normal day.
I as almost all of us have particular interest in video sharing, social networking sites. it is my artistic interest to follow what is going through these channels of interconnectivity and I try to explore it. To put it better -“link” to it.
My works are never attempt to make my “Authentic” piece of art but to make a “link” to these materials and make it easiest and direct way possible.
My artistic practice pretty much deals with difficult job of incorporating this sort of "ready made" contexts and materials into the interpretations and translations I make of them. I'm trying to incorporate their original context or historical actuality into my work and process of thinking. Right now information that is available for us is overwhelming making it almost impossible to digest, but at least trying to draw the map where exactly and which kind of cultural body we live in is at least is possible I think.

But it is not youtube or other social networking “things” I work with. It can be a materials from TV shows, movies, picture from media news, Youtube, shortly everything that challenges me to be “linked” with not too much “artistic” interruption. “ARTISTIC” for me is somebody/somethng who tries to understand which kind of cultural, political or social body he lives on.
06.05.10 - I'm not focusing on creating original authentically "my" works but it's based on materials I found over the surfing in internet or TV space or any other information channels that dominates our existence at present times. I thing they are producing more than enough visual materials to reflect in terms of cultural context, political and historical actualities etc... I'm trying to incorporate their original context or historical actuality into my work and process of thinking that is going through my mind on the bases of everyday life. right now information that is available for us is overwhelming making it almost impossible to digest, but at least trying to draw the map where exactly and which kind of cultural body I live in and what kind of impact it has on me and people around me I think is least possible. for many criteria (not only because I'm busy with it last 10-12 years) art seems to be a pretty effective tool for me that helps me in this process. my artistic practice is pretty much deals with difficult job of incorporating this sort of "ready" contexts and materials into the interpretations and translations I making of them.
Last three years that I spend at Netherlands at Sandberg Institut(MA) has been really turbulent in terms of narrowing down my artistic interests and get to know exactly positions and stands of me as an artist. after the very active art student - student activist life in Georgia coming to Europe showed a different perspectives and point of views of how one can see it's functions as an artist. now at this moment my goal is to explore both of the perspectives, think it through and research within my visual language.
04.01.10 - If I am to describe what is my interest in art I think the most important point would be that my references no longer reside inside very limited circle of visual art field but almost always is directed outside of it.
I don’t create my original materials, sources that I use aren’t authentically mine but things that I find through diving in huge cyber body of internet, TV materials and reusing them. Trying to keep their original context and the same time incorporate them in to my work. World is so much interconnected we have much more shared in between and to investigate what goes through this channels of interconnectivity is the same time investigation of what is going on in my own mind. I sort of mesh them(materials) together. In some ways it is similar to what scientist do for their experiments – crashing the atoms and particles to each other in order to investigate what is concealed behind well known forms of existing, ideas and appearances. This kind of approach is helping me to know which kind of cultural body I live in and which kind of cultural, social, ideological nerves am I attached to. my latest works and concepts reflecting this ideas.
My believe is that artist existence is like parasites living on the bigger body of culture – metaphorically speaking. Notion of which(culture) reaches far beyond the acknowledged borders of so called cultural activities(such as theater, opera, exhibitions, biennales etc…) so it is indeed very important to be aware on what body and blood you are attached to and living on.
08.06.09 - In order to describe main interests of me in art I will have to position myself in to a general picture of what I see as somebody who lives, works in this kind of art scene and environment I live. looks around, visiting art events or exhibitions and so forth. than it is becoming clear that in every direction of art I come across weather it is research based projects investigating certain areas of society, politically orientated art, or rather esthetic value based works they all, almost all of them are to show artist, his art as somebody who sees, investigates, researches: subject, mater, society, from the position of an owner.
There is kind of tendency to show artist as somebody owning the knowledge, cool, smart and wit, that provokes, teases, analyses and sees everything form kind of safe distance leaving no space for stupidity, mistake, error,..
there is no time for such a thing as "mistake", "error" in this highly capitalized, money-power relationship, very hierarchical Art world.
I position myself on the contrary to this idea of an artist. Not purposely but constantly, showing not an artist, his opinions or points of view, but somebody that is not cool, smart and wit, but lost, but silly and stupid.
all of my activities in art weather it is video-installations, books or objects are the recordings of that profound feeling of lostness and efforts of somebody to trace it, to figure it out, to break it through rather then following after great Ideas, super creative artistic decisions, best technological accomplishments, so called mastership or what so ever.
